Sports - Macomb

Both the Macomb boys and girls golf teams participated in their Sectional Tournaments on Monday, October 14th, looking to solidify excellent seasons with a trip to state. Both teams performed admirably and did indeed earn State Invites, as the boys finished third while the girls finished in second.

For the girls, Emma Thorman impressed with a 76 for the tournament, while Laine Torrance and Karlie Wisslead had great days on the course as the other two Bombers with sub-90 scores. Lily Vardaman finished with a 91, while Ellen Meixner and Katie Teel put up respectable scores in a day that saw Macomb fall just short of rivals Quincy Notre Dame. The girls State Meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at Red Tail Run Course in Decatur.

On the boys side of things, it was Braeden Duncan leading the way for Macomb, in its own hosted Sectional, with a 71 on the day. Connor Hamm, Jack Lockard, Griffin Taylor, Blaine Sutton and Connor Watson all chipped in sub-90 scores in a display of the frightening depth MHS has to offer each and every time out. The boys will be looking for a state title when they play their tournament this Friday and Saturday as well, though they will head to Bloomington/Normal and Prairie Vista Golf Course.

We wish both squads the best of luck as they look to bring home the hardware for MHS!
