Schuyler County Sheriff Bill Redshaw reports the following action in Schuyler County for the week Sept 11, 2018-Sept 17, 2018

 

On 9/11/2018 Zachary Porter of Greenfield was cited for Speeding 70mph in a 55mph zone

 

On 9/12/2018 Fletcher Blackburn of Roodhouse was cited for Speeding 67mph in a 55mph zone

 

On 9/12/2018 Maria Castelan of Beardstown was cited for Speeding 81mph in a 55mph zone

 

On 9/14/2018 Ashley Robb of East Moline was cited for Speeding 70mph in a 55mph zone & Operating an Uninsured Vehicle

 

On 9/17/2018 at approximately 4:40am a juvenile of Rushville was driving a 2006 Ford F150 when the driver hit some loose gravel and began to swerve, the driver overcorrected sending the vehicle into the ditch and rolling the vehicle on Rt 67. No citations were issued.

 

On 9/17/2018 at approximately 6:04 am Martin Dieme of Beardstown was driving a 2002 Hyundai Sonata when the he swerved to miss a deer on Rt 103 and slid on the wet grass down into the culvert. No citations were issued.

Carla K Howe, age 61, of Macomb, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While License Suspended. Howe was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date.

 

Isaac A DeShong, age 21, of Carthage, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Petition to Revoke or Modify Sentence, Probation Violation on original charges of Aggravated Battery. DeShong remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

Schuyler County Sheriff Bill Redshaw reports the following action in Schuyler County Sept 4, 2018-Sept 11, 2018.

 

On 9/4/2018 Bobby Jo Huerta of Rushville was cited for Theft Under 500.00. Huerta allegedly stole various household items from a cabin at the Free Methodist Campgrounds.

 

On 9/7/2018 Jorge Nunez of Beardstown was cited for No Valid Insurance, Speeding 67mph in a 55mph zone & Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

 

On 9/9/2018 Rick Yocum of Basco was cited for Criminal Damage to Property under 500.00.

 

On 9/9/2018 Parfaite Kakonde Sefu of Beardstown was involved in an accident on Rt 67. Sefu was headed South on Rt 67 when the vehicle, 2014 Jeep Cherokee, went off the roadway on the right side and went into a ditch which proceeded into a large tree. Sefu was taken to CMH. Assisting at the scene was Schuyler County Deputy’s, Schuyler County EMS & Rushville Fire & Rescue.

On 8/29/2018 Cherylon Hester of Peoria was cited for Operating an Uninsured

Vehicle

 

On 8/30/2018 Ronnie Hiland of Augusta was cited for Operating an Uninsured

Vehicle

 

On 8/31/2018 Chandra McDowell of Bushnell was cited for Expired License,

Operating an Uninsured Vehicle & Speeding 69mph in a 55mph zone. McDowell

also had a Schuyler County Failure to Appear Warrant with a bond amount of

3000.00. McDowell was held at the Schuyler County Jail until she posted bond

 

On 9/1/2018 Johnathon Rakestraw of Leavenworth, KS was cited for Obstructing

Identification, Driving While License Suspended/Revoked, Meth Delivery over

100g under 400g & Meth Trafficking. Deputy Josh White was conducting business

checks he spotted a suspicious vehicle near Camden. The vehicle was parked with

Rakestraw inside the vehicle. Once the investigation was over Deputy White who

was assisted by Deputy Jarred Hester confiscated 118 grams of Meth and several

thousand dollars. Rakestraw is lodged in the Schuyler County Jail on a 150,000.00

bond. Rakestraw also had a warrant out of Mason County of 4000.00.

Hancock County Deputy Arrests Man for Driving while License Suspended and for Obstructing a Peace Officer

On Friday, August 17, 2018 at 3:22pm, Ryan H. Lowe, 31 years old, from Keokuk, Iowa was
arrested for Driving while License Suspended and for Obstructing a Peace Officer.
 
Lowe was driving a white, 2007 Chevrolet truck, in the 1800 block of Keokuk St. in Hamilton.
When a deputy conducted a traffic stop on the truck, Lowe pulled over and immediately fled on
foot. The deputy chased Lowe for several blocks and was able to take him into custody. Hamilton Police assisted during the incident. No injuries or damage were reported from the
incident.
 
Lowe was taken to Hancock County Jail where he later posted ten percent of $2,000.00 as set
by law.
 
Lowe is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hancock County Sheriff Office Arrest Man for Indecent Solicitation of a Child 8/10/18

On Friday, August 10, 2018 Dustin M. Armstrong, 33, of Warsaw, Illinois was arrested by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office on a Hancock County arrest warrant for Indecent Solicitation of a Child. A joint investigation with DCFS and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office revealed Armstrong had solicited photographs from a child under the age of 17. Bond was set at $15,000 (10% to apply). Armstrong posted bond and was released from the Hancock County Jail.

Indecent Solicitation of Child is a Class IV felony and is punishable up to 3 years in prison and fines up to $25,000. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Joao Bento of Portland, Maine was involved in an accident on IL RT 103 & US Highway 24.  Bento was driving a 2008 Infiniti.  Bento was traveling Northwest when the driver stated he just lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle left the roadway on the right side and struck the end of the guardrail and continued down the guardrail until its passenger side tire got wedged underneath the guardrail.  A citation was issued.

 

An accident was reported on RT 103 near US Hwy 24.  Taljar Limbolo of Springfield was driving a 2000 Ford van when he rear-ended a 2012 Hyundai Sedan driven by Cindy Quintana of Beardstown.

Hancock County Sheriff's Office Reckless Discharge of Firearms Arrest

July 29, 2018

Sheriff Scott Bentzinger reports that on July 29, 2018 at about 12:05am, Hancock County deputies responded to the area of 90 N Co Rd 830 (Tioga), Hancock County, for the report of a man shooting a handgun from a residential front porch. The report further stated that the man had fired the gun numerous times into the air and over several area homes.

Deputies spoke with witnesses in the area and learned that James “Mat” Mason, 27 year old, from Tioga, was the man seen firing the handgun. Deputies made contact with Mason and placed him under arrest for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. Deputies further collected several firearms as evidence and safekeeping from Mason's residence.

Mason was lodged at Hancock County Jail on the Class 4 Felony charge. Mason remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing. Hancock County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Hamilton and Warsaw Police Departments.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 21, 2018

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger and Carthage Police Chief Gary Waddell reports the arrest of two individuals in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 21, 2018.

At about 4:00 am the Hancock County Multi-Agency Response Team assisted the Carthage Police Department in the execution of a search warrant at Jeffrey Schofield's residence at 303 Hansford in Carthage and arrested two people. Jeffery Schofield, age 48, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Stolen Property.

Lindsay Cleesen, age 31, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.

Schofield and Cleesen were lodged in the jail awaiting a bond hearing.

All subjects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 18, 2018

On July 15, 2018 at about 12:20pm, Hancock County Sheriff's Office, responded to the report of a domestic violence in the 300 block of North Center Street in Augusta. The male suspect had fled the scene prior to arrival. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released. Deputies located and arrested Randy L. Sadler, 31 years old from Carthage, Illinois at a residence in rural Dallas City at about 5:20pm on July 15, 2018. Sadler was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery and Home Invasion and was lodged in Hancock County Jail. On July 17, 2018, Sadler's bond was set at $50,000.00.

Sadler is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 18, 2018

On July 17, 2018 at about 11:20pm, Hancock County Sheriff's Office working in conjunction with Hancock County Multi-Agency Response Team (MRT), conducted a traffic stop of a 2012 Chrysler van on U.S. Hwy 136 west of New Warsaw Road, in Hamilton Illinois, Hancock County. As a result of the stop the driver of the van was arrested for driving while license suspended. Hancock County K9 “Zaire” detected the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis over 700 grams, THC related products over 100 grams, and prescription medication, all packaged for sale and delivery. The passenger in the vehicle, Jason A. Sprague, 36 years old from Hamilton, Illinois, was arrested and charged with possession of the illegal drugs.

A search of Sprague's residence was conducted following the traffic stop, and more illegal drugs, money and a firearm were all seized as evidence.

Sprague was lodged in Hancock County Jail awaiting arraignment on the charges. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hancock County MRT consists of Law Enforcement Officers from Hamilton Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff's Office, Hancock County Sheriff's Reserve, and Warsaw Police.

Hancock County Stabbing

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the report of a stabbing that took place near Pontoosuc, Illinois on 1530 East County Road about one quarter mile south of Highway 9 and 96 at about 11pm on July 9, 2018.

 

Two adult males, ages 34 and 43, both occupants of the same vehicle, got into an argument. Both males were injured by knife. Two other occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

 

The 43-year old male was stabbed in the chest and was taken to Ft. Madison by private vehicle where they met the Lee County Ambulance and Ft. Madison Police. The Lee County Ambulance then transported the male to Ft. Madison Community Hospital. The 34-year old male received treatment at Carthage Memorial Hospital on July 10, 2018.

 

The incident remains under investigation.

On Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Knoblauch Hall. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

WIU Office of Public Safety Report 11-15-17 to 11-17-17

On Nov. 16 the Office of Public Safety and the Macomb Police Department arrested three individuals. At 6:16 a.m. Abel Abrego, 21, of 627 W. Adams St., was arrested for possession of stolen property. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 7:15 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond. At 6:44 a.m. Jason Rodriguez, 19, and Andrew Galiano, 19, both of 904 Bayliss Hall, were arrested in Bayliss Hall for theft over $500, possession of cannabis, manufacture and delivery of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were transported to the McDonough County Jail at 7:23 a.m. were they were lodged pending bond. Additional information can be obtained from the Macomb Police Department.

On Nov. 13 at 11:30 a.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report the theft of her bicycle, no value given, from the Tanner Hall bicycle rack. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 10 at 1:36 p.m. Jada Beatty, 18, of 724 Tanner Hall, was arrested in Mowbray Hall for theft under $500 and disorderly conduct. She was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 1:47 p.m. where she was lodged pending bond.

On Nov. 10 at 8:34 p.m. non student Donshay Posey, 20, of Oak Park, was arrested in Q-Lot on a McDonough County warrant for failure to appear. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 8:51 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond. Non student Shauna Harris, 19, of Oak Park, was issued a notice to appear Dec. 12 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for possession of cannabis.

On Nov. 11 at 1:37 p.m. one student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for behavior.

On Nov. 11 at 8:49 p.m. non student Makayla McGee, 20, of Galesburg, was arrested in the 300 block of West University Drive for driving while license suspended. She was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 9:01 p.m. where she was lodged pending bond.

On Nov. 12 at 10:39 p.m. a University employee reported the theft of approximately $23 worth of food from the Tanner C-Store. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 12 at 10:43 p.m. one student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and one student was judicially referred for possession of cannabis.

On Nov. 8 at 1:02 a.m. Austin Gladd, 20, of Lacon, IL, was arrested in Tanner Hall for unlawful use of weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 1:13 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Nov. 9 at 7:06 p.m. an employee reported criminal damage to government property on the fourth and fifth floors of Corbin Hall. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 6 at 6:15 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Thompson Hall. No smoke or fire was found and no injuries were reported.

On Nov. 6 at 7:03 p.m. Jimmy Lloyd, 18, of 720 Bayliss Hall, was arrested in Q-Lot for driving while license suspended. He was lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 7:13 p.m. pending bond. During the same incident, four people were judicially referred for cannabis.

On Nov. 7 at 12:14 p.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report the theft of a WIU identification card. The card was then used for $38.56 in fraudulent charges. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 7 at 2:01 p.m. a student reported she was sexually assaulted Sept. 17 in a residence hall by someone known to her. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 7 at 2:35 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the Bayliss/Henninger dining area. The alarm was activated by a grease fire on a grill and no injuries were reported.

On Nov. 4 at 9:16 p.m. one student in Grote Hall was judicially referred for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

On Nov. 5 at 2:34 p.m. a University employee reported the theft of a television from the Bayliss Hall fourth floor lounge. The theft is under investigation.

On Nov. 5 at 2:33 a.m. two students were judicially referred for possession of cannabis in the Thompson Hall parking lot. Martin Beemsterboer, 19, of 1212 Thompson Hall, and non student Jack Serieko, 20, of Chicago, were each assigned a notice to appear Dec. 12 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

On Nov. 1 at 8:37 p.m. a student in Tanner Hall reported the theft of a purse, valued at $90, perfume, valued at $15 and $20 in cash from her residence hall room. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 2 at 3:01 p.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report her identification card was lost or stolen. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 3 at 12:24 a.m. a student in Thompson Hall reported the theft of her car key/key fob, valued at $75, from her residence hall room.

On Oct. 30 at 3:05 p.m. Paris White, 21, of 900 Linden Lane, was arrested near LaMoine Village on an active McDonough County warrant. She was transported to McDonough County Jail at 3:11 p.m. where she was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 30 at 5:45 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Tanner Hall. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

On Oct. 31 at 10:56 a.m. nonstudent Jahi Allen, 18, of Chicago, was arrested at Mowbray Hall for domestic battery, unlawful restraint, and criminal damage to property from incidents that took place in Tanner and Bayliss halls on Sept. 10 and Oct. 30. He was transported to McDonough County Jail at 11 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 31 at 2:13 p.m. a student reported criminal damage, estimated at $120, to his motorcycle parked near Knoblauch Hall between 12-2 p.m. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 31 at 5:46 p.m. the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety received a report from two students that they were each sexually assaulted by a male known to them. The assaults occurred Oct. 29 and Oct. 15, as well as on previous dates stemming back to last year. The incidents took place in a residence hall room. The University is investigating the incident.

On Oct. 31 at 9:05 p.m. a student reported the theft of his wallet, containing ID cards, a debit card, a credit card and $20, from the Thompson Hall dining center between 5-6 p.m. Fraudulent charges were made to both cards in the amounts of $65 and $33. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 31 at 10:32 p.m. one student in Olson Hall was judicially referred for cannabis.

On Nov. 1 at 12:04 a.m. one student in Corbin Hall was judicially referred for suspicion of cannabis and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

On Oct. 27 at 6:05 .m. nonstudent Shalonda Moore, 26, of Macomb, received a notice to appear Nov. 28 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for possession of cannabis (less than 10 grams) during a traffic stop at Jackson and Ward streets.

On Oct. 27 at 8:50 p.m. Christina Healey, 19, of 317A Grote Hall, received a notice to appear Nov. 28 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for possession of cannabis (less than 10 grams) in Grote.

On Oct. 29 at 2:11 a.m. Karina Cisneros, 19, of 911 Henninger Hall, received a notice to appear Nov. 28 for a Macomb city ordinance violation fighting in Henninger. Another student received a judicial referral for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and fighting.

On Oct. 29 at 10:47 p.m. two students in Bayliss Hall were judicially referred for behavior and weapons (use of a taser).

On Oct. 26 at 1:42 a.m. three students were judicially referred for obstructing identification, and two students were judicially referred for cannabis near Wetzel Hall.

On Oct. 26 at 12:10 p.m. Mekyell Brown-Champion, 18, 820 Tanner Hall, was arrested in Tanner Hall for a domestic battery incident that took place Oct. 25. He was transported to McDonough County Jail at 12:23 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 26 at 8:45 p.m. one student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for cannabis, and another student was judicially referred for possession of alcohol.

On Oct. 26 at 11:26 p.m. a student reported the theft of $50 ($20, $5 and $25) taken from her wallet in Thompson Hall over a period of one month, beginning Sept. 17. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. De Andre Miller, 18, of 805 Tanner Hall, was arrested in the 300 block of University Drive for reckless driving following an accident, which caused an estimated $700 in property damage along University Drive. Miller was ticketed for reckless driving and assigned a Nov. 8 court date. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 6:05 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 7 at 4:51 a.m. a 14-year-old juvenile in Tanner Hall was issued a citation for curfew and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. The juvenile was released to his parents.

On Oct. 7 at 11:31 a.m. an individual reported at OPS that sometime between 11:20-11:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, she was struck in the back by a BB while waiting at the Murray Street bus stop. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 8 at 3:07 p.m. non student Corrion Martin, 20, of Chicago, was arrested near Charles and Orchard streets for domestic battery and criminal damage after an alleged incident in Tanner Hall. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 3:15 P.M. where he as lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 9 at 12:23 a.m. Chynyun Tan, 19, of 720 Tanner Hall, received a notice to appear Nov. 14 for a Macomb City ordinance violation for possession of cannabis (less than 10 grams).

On Sept. 30 at 2:10 a.m. a student at Hanson Field was judicially referred for alcohol possession. 

On Sept. 30 at 9:20 a.m. Vincente Reyna, 19 and Andriy Andrusyk, 19, both of 819 Corbin Hall, were arrested in Corbin Hall for unlawful possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor. Andrusyk was additionally charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 10:24 a.m. pending bond.

On Sept. 27 at 11:58 a.m. a student reported the theft of a bicycle, valued at $50, from the bike rack on the east side of Brophy Hall. The bike was found in the Tanner Circle bike rack later that day.

On Sept. 27 at 11:35 p.m. Jaiane McGee, 19, of 219 C Grote, was arrested in Grote Hall on a McDonough County warrant for failure to appear. She was transported to McDonough County Jail at 11:37 where she was lodged pending bond.

On Sept. 28 at 11:26 a.m. a student reported the theft of his iPhone 7, valued at $685 with the case, from the bathroom on the 10th floor of Thompson Hall earlier that morning. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m. a student reported that she was sexually harassed by a few males on campus while walking on the north quad near the football field at 11 p.m. Sept. 27. The student stated that a group of males began yelling sexually explicit statements, and then the men approached the subject, and one of the males grabbed her purse and fled. After the student used pepper spray on the other individuals, the purse was retuned and they fled the scene. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 28 at 4:30 p.m. a student reported that she was sexually assaulted by a male known to her. The assault occurred in the evening hours of Sept. 25 in a residence hall. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 28 at 9:07 p.m. a student in Henninger Hall was judicially referred for cannabis on West University Drive.

On Sept. 29 at 12:42 a.m. Orlando Mattox, 18, and Kyler Hughes, 19, both of 909 Bayliss Hall, were each issued a notice to appear Oct. 31 for a Macomb City ordinance violation for possession of cannabis in Bayliss Hall.

On Sept. 22 at 5:21 p.m. Arturo Gray, 24, of 410 W. Adams Apt. 4, was arrested in the 100 block of West Pierce Street for driving while license suspended and expired registration. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 5:36 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Sept. 23 at 10:13 p.m. one student in Thompson Hall was judicially referred for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Sept. 20 at 7:59 p.m. Ronald Sanders, 18, of 518 Bayliss Hall, was arrested in Bayliss on a McDonough County warrant for theft (in connection with the recent bicycle thefts on campus). He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 8:02 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Sept. 21 at 4:29 p.m. JaJuan Reynolds, 18, of 720 Tanner Hall, was arrested in Tanner on a McDonough County warrant for theft (in connection with the recent bicycle thefts on campus). He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 4:36 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Sept. 21 at 5:41 p.m. a student reported her Apple Watch, valued at $500, which she had lost in Henninger Hall on Aug. 24 and had been turned into the information desk, was lost or stolen. The theft is under investigation.

On Aug. 28 at 3:47 p.m., the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety received a report that a student was sexually assaulted by a male known to her. The assault occurred in the evening hours of Aug. 25 in a residence hall. The University is investigating the incident.

On Aug. 28 at 8:32 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the International House on Westbrook Circle. The alarm was activated by a cooking mishap and no injuries were reported.

On Aug. 20 at 1:34 a.m. two non-student juveniles were arrested in Q-Lot for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and violating curfew. Both were released to family members.

On Aug. 20 at 3:24 a.m. Niko Petrone, 20, of 414 Thompson Hall, was arrested on Murray Street for obstruction of identification and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 3:29 a.m. pending bond.
