Fatal Crash

Fatal injury crash update involving Commercial Motor Vehicle and Farm Tractor occured in US 67, .3 miles south of County Road 1700 North. This incident happened on May 22nd at 1:09 pm. The Vehicle Units are “ 2012 Kenworth 2 axle box truck and 4430 John Deere tractor.   Driver Gregory Jones, 28 years old from Nevada, IA and Timothy Sullivan, 64 years old from Macomb, IL were involved in this accident. Seat Belts were used by Jones but not used by Sullivan. The cause of this accident was both cars failed to reduce speed to avoid any crash. The sky was clear and sunny as  Sullivan and Jones were north bound on US 67, south of County Road 1700 North in McDonough County. Sullivan was driving a 4430 John Deere tractor. Jones was driving a 2012 Kenworth box truck.

 

Sullivan was driving his tractor in the right lane of a 4 lane highway when Jones approach from behind and struck the rear of Sullivan’s tractor. The impact caused Jones’ truck to leave the road and enter the median, where it came to rest.Sullivan’s tractor sustained extensive damage and Sullivan was ejected as a result of the impact. Sullivan was transported to McDonough District Hospital by ambulance and then life flighted to OSF Saint Francis in Peoria, IL in critical condition.

 

Jones did not sustain any injuries. Sullivan subsequently died of injuries he suffered in the traffic crash at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.Charges for Jones is failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Investigation is ongoing.Assisting Agencies are McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, Air Evac Lifeteam, Lifeguard Ambulance Service, Good Hope Fire Department and Macomb Fire Department.

Missing Endangered

Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the family of Patricia McDowell, will requests the public’s assistance in searching for Patricia. Patricia was last seen Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 6:30am. Patricia is 74 years old. Patricia is 5’4” tall and about 140 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. Patricia has recently experienced memory loss and confusion and depression. She may be near a 2012 Buick LaCrosse with Illinois license plate ZV36508. 


If Patricia is located please call 911 immediately or if any person has information that would help locate Patricia please call Hancock County Sheriffs office at 217-357-2115. Attached is a photo of Patricia.

On May 19 at 6:56 a.m. Shelby Tharpe, 21, of 718 Olson Hall, was arrested in Olson for criminal trespass to a residence. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 7:03 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On May 15 at 10:48 a.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the Corbin/Olson Dining Center. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

Sheriffs Scholarship Awarded

Sheriff Standard is pleased to announce the 2019 Illinois Sheriff’s Association Scholarship has been awarded to Sierra Wirebaugh from Canton High School. Each year, the ISA gives out over $53,000 in college scholarships to deserving students throughout Illinois. Ms. Wirebaugh is a 2019 graduate of Canton High School and will be attending Illinois State University in the fall of 2019. She plans to pursue a degree in Social Work from ISU. Sierra has been active at CHS. She has been involved in Dance Team; Student Council; Marching Band; Symphonic Band; Math Team; and Scholastic Bowl. She has also been involved in her community as a volunteer with various organizations. Sierra is the daughter of Jeanie Wirebaugh of Canton.

On May 14 at 5:43 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the International House. The alarm was activated by a cooking mishap. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

Warren County Police Report

A single vehicle crash, that occurred on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at 1:57 AM on 23rd Ave at Wingate Drive in Warren County, resulted in a fatal injury of one of its occupants. The vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, was traveling eastbound on 23rd Ave near Wingate Drive in Warren County. The vehicle ran off of 23rd Ave and overturned multiple times. The cause was due to improper lane usage. The occupants, Justin Howell, 31, of Seaton, IL, and Craig A. Sloan, 32, of Avon, IL, were both injured in the crash. Howell was fatally injured, while Sloan only received minor injuries. The crash in still under investigation by the agencies involved and no charges have been released at this time.

nonstudent Zachary Kreps, 20, of Bushnell, was arrested on Tower Road for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 3:50 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

Kashona Smith, 18, of 934 Wigwam Hollow Rd., was arrested on a McDonough County warrant for failure to appear and driving with a suspended driver's license. She was transported to McDonough County Jail at 11:02 a.m. where she was lodged pending bond.

Christopher W Miller, age 44, of Carthage, IL was arrested on a McDonough County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear for Payment on original charges of Driving While License Suspended. Miller was released to McDonough County Authorities.

 

Blake E Lomax, age 28, of Warsaw, IL was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass to Real Property. Lomax was released on his own recognizance and given a future court date.

 

Sedat Zekirovski, age 60, of Hamilton, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While License Suspended. Zekirovski remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

 

James K Stroh, age 36, of Springfield, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Driving While License Suspended, No Valid Driver's License, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Burglary, Theft, Criminal Damage to Property, Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, Failure to Reduce Speed, and Driving While License Suspended. Stroh remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

Matthew A Jones, age 31, of Fort Madison, IA was arrested and charged with Improper Use of Registration, Driving While License Suspended and Possession of Methamphetamine. Schuyler Co Sheriff's Report

Schuyler Co Sheriff Bill Redshaw reports the following action in Schuyler Co for the week of 4/23/2019-4/29/2019

 

On 4/23/2019

 

Lewis Norton of Bushnell was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Norton was driving a 2014 Toyota and travelling south on US Hwy 67. Norton overtakes another motorist in traffic and hits Austin Eskridge of Industry who was driving a 2002 International. Lewis proceeds to hit and second vehicle which is driven by Stephen Coddington of Bethalto and driving a 1993 Toyota. Lewis hits Coddington’s vehicle head on and causes Coddington’s vehicle to overturn and came to rest in a ditch on its side. Coddington was cited for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle

Levi Lamb of Ipava was cited for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. Lamb was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram and was traveling East bound on Rt 103 rear ended Adrien Dieme of Beardstown who was driving a 2012 Kia Sedan.

 

A report of windows being damaged to a Bobcat Skidsteer owned by Chris Klitz located at the Schuyler County Fairgrounds. If you have any information as to whom may have damaged it please call the Sheriff’s Office. Investigation is still open on this case.

 

On 4/25/2019

 

Fulton County Sheriff’s Dept arrested Jeffrey McGinnis on a Schuyler County Warrant. McGinnis posted $50.00 bond.

 

Wesley Kruse turned himself in on a $650.00 cash bond on a Schuyler County Warrant. Kruse posted $650.00 bond

A report of an attempted burglary at a building at the Schuyler Co Fairgrounds. There were several pry marks made on a door. Evidence was collected and sent to

On April 25 at 12:14 a.m. one student in Thompson Hall was judicially referred for possession of cannabis.

On April 25 at 2:24 p.m. a University employee reported the theft of a drill, valued at $150, from a locked cabinet in Currens Hall. The incident is under investigation.

We have had many reports of thefts. Please keep a watchful eye out for suspicious vehicles or people on foot around areas with unoccupied homes, cabins or sheds. If you are a home/land owner feel free to list your property on our Extra Patrol Requests and/or install security cameras.

Schuyler/Industry Schools let out an hour early Wednesday and do not resume until Tuesday, please be cautious of children riding their bikes and crossing streets.

On April 12 at 2 a.m. Irwin Garcia Torres, 24, of 333 N. Clay St., was arrested at the corner of Sherman Drive and Murray Street for an outstanding LaSalle County warrant and driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended driver's license. He was transported to McDonough County Jail at 2:25 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

Hancock County Sheriff Captures Moulton with assistance from the Public

Richard D. Moulton was taken into custody on 4/5/19 at about 12:30PM. Moulton was located
south of Augusta in Hancock County. Moulton remains in Hancock County Jail on the warrant.

 

Hancock County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the public for providing information to
lead to his arrest on the warrant.


All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On April 8 at 6:28 p.m. Katherine Hammond, 19, of 791 Wigwam Hollow Road, was arrested in the parking lot of Knoblauch Hall on a McDonough County warrant. She was lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 6:35 p.m. pending bond.

On April 8 at 9:45 p.m. two students in Henninger Hall were judicially referred, one for cannabis possession and one for possession of drug paraphernalia.
