The Cubs beat the Nationals 4-3 in 10 innings in a makeup game from a rainout last Sunday. Javy Baez had the go-ahead RBI in the top of the 10th on a bunt single that scored Kris Bryant.
The win came with some rather unfortunate news, however, as Pedro Strop went down with an apparent lower leg/ankle injury while running to first base in the top of the 10th. This could spell danger for the Cubs, as the bullpen is already being stretched by the ridiculous road trip the team has embarked on.
Overall, the Cubs sit at 19-13 on this crazy stretch of games that hasn’t seen them get an official off day since August 9. The Cubs are now in the final legs of this run, as they get Cincinnati at home for 3 games starting today, then go to Arizona for three before they finally get an off day September 20.
The Bengals beat the Ravens on Thursday Night Football last night, September 13, by a score of 34-23. The Bengals were powered by AJ Green’s 3 touchdown performance, all 3 of which came on his first 3 catches.
Elsewhere, the Seahawks have signed former Eagles (Super Bowl champ) and Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks. Kendricks was cut by the Browns following an indictment on an insider trading charge. Kendricks is expected to start for the Seahawks on Monday night in Chicago against the Bears.
Lastly, Jalen Ramsey said in an interview recently that he would tackle every member of his family, including his grandma, if they were to step out on the field. I think this kind of trash talk is phenomenal for the game, as so much of the NFL is about on-field performance and keeping it clean and professional off the field. It’s nice to see someone letting their personality shine.
