The Macomb Bomber Youth Football Camp will be held at Macomb High School June 25-28. MHS Head Football Coach Tony Westen will run the program, which is meant for students in grades K-8.
The camp does not involve tackling or pads, it is just designed to get kids outside with a football in their hands. Those interested can sign up at the MHS athletics office, or the day of at the high school field.
This morning Coach Westen also broke the news that Macomb youth football is getting a big rule change. For grades 1-6 in Macomb tackling will not be allowed. Previously, tackling started for 4th graders in the Macomb JFL program. The JFL program will work with the McDonough County YMCA to incorporate flag football leagues.
Coach Westen explained this morning on K100 that the rule change was made to focus on safety and the fundamentals of football.
