On Sept. 19 at 5:22 p.m. Laderek Towner, 18, of Thompson Hall 1009, was arrested in the 1400 block of University Drive for possession of cannabis and manufacture/delivery of cannabis (30-500 grams). He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 5:27 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond. At 5:28 p.m. Brandon Nevils, 18, of Thompson Hall 1319, was issued a notice to appear Oct. 22 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for illegal possession of cannabis (less than 10 grams) in the 1400 block of University Drive.

On Sept. 19 at 8:33 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Thompson Hall for a cooking mishap.

On Sept. 16 at 3:55 p.m. a student called the Office of Public Safety to report the window of his vehicle, parked in Q-Lot, was shattered. The window was valued at $1,500 and the incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 16 at 4:09 p.m. an OPS officer found the window of a vehicle, parked in Q-Lot, was shattered. The window was valued at $1,500 and the incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 16 at 5:03 p.m. an OPS officer found the window of a vehicle, parked in Q-Lot, was shattered. The window was valued at $1,500 and the incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 16 at 4:51 p.m. a student called the Office of Public Safety to report the window of her vehicle, parked in N-Lot, was shattered. The window was valued at $1,500 and the incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 16 at 8:40 p.m. a student in Thompson Hall was judicially referred for cannabis and alcohol possession.

On Sept. 16 at 11:22 p.m. a Sodexo employee reported the theft of her wallet, valued at $30 and containing identification and a credit card, from her purse while she was working in the Corbin/Olson Dining area. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 16 at 3:22 p.m. a student in Lincoln Hall reported the theft of laundry, valued at $50, on Sept. 11 from a residence hall laundry room. The incident is under investigation.

On 9/9/2019 

Jessica Martin of Beardstown was cited for Driving While License Suspended and was placed under arrest on a Fulton Co warrant, Martin was transferred to Fulton Co Jail 

 

On 9/10/2019 

Zachary Lawler of Canton was arrested on a Schuyler Co Warrant with a bond amount of $5000.00 10% to apply. Lawler bonded $500.00 bond and was released 

 

Charles Stoops of Havana was arrested on a Fulton Co Warrant, Stoops was transferred to Fulton Co 

 

On 9/11/2019 

Cheryl Frank of Rushville was arrested on a Schuyler Co Warrant with a bond amount of $20,000.00 10% to apply. Frank remains lodged in the Schuyler Co Jail

Jonathan Bomolo of Peoria was cited for Speeding 78mph in a 55mph zone 

 

Bradley Alexander of Peoria was cited for Driving While License Suspended & Driving 82mph in a 55mph zone, Alexander was given a Notice to Appear 

 

A Juvenile was cited for Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The juvenile was driving a 2015 Dodge pickup with side air bag deployment. The vehicle was drivable, but location is unclear.

Ryan Mills of Astoria was arrested on a Schuyler Co Warrant with a bond amount of $3000.00 10% to apply, Mills bonded $300.00 and was released

09/08/19

Brittany E Hernandez, age 32, of Keokuk, IA was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Speeding and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. Hernandez was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date. 

 

09/09/19 

Kelly R Miller, age 40, of Carthage, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Operating Uninsured Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Battery. Miller was also arrested on a McDonough County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Obstructing a Peace Officer. Miller was also arrested on a Lee County Iowa Warrant charging her with Theft First Degree. Miller was released to Lee County Iowa Authorities. 

 

Derek A Miller, age 25, of Carthage, IL was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Miller was also arrested on a Henderson County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges Driving While License Suspended and Speeding. Miller was also arrested on a Mc Donough County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Obstructing Identification. Miller was released pending a future court date. 

 

Eric M Gilpin, age 44, of Dallas City, IL was arrested and charged with Driving While License Revoked, Aggravated Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Gilpin remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

09/10/19 

Adam M Sparrow, age 37, of Warsaw, IL was arrested and charged with Drug Court Violation. Sparrow remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail. 

 

09/11/19 

Richard J Wright, age 66, of Dallas City, IL was arrested on a Pike County, IL Warrant charging him with Petition for Revocation of Probation. Wright was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date. 

 

Christian J Jones, age 48, of Hamilton, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Production, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Jones remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

09/13/19 

Sean T A Nelson, age 21, of Hamilton, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Nelson remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

Justin M Hemphill, age 26, of Keokuk, IA was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended and Unlawful Display of Registration. Hemphill remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

Howard L Stambaugh, age 39, of West Point, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Driving Under the Influence. Stambaugh remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

09/14/19 

Brody P Monroe, age 19, of Hamilton, IL was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended. Monroe was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date. 

 

Melissa C Bruner, age 35, of Carthage, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence and Endangering the Health of a Child. Bruner remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting her next court appearance. 

 

09/15/19 

Dillion J Neill, age 24, of Carthage, IL was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence. Neill was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date.

On Sept. 13 at 12:45 p.m. a student reported at Mowbray Hall that earbuds, valued at $150, had been stolen from Olson Hall. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 15 at 12:30 a.m. the Office of Public Safety was dispatched to Thompson Hall for a report of a student who had been threatened with a weapon (air soft/BB gun). In addition, a female student reported that the offender (who is known to her) had battered her and also threatened her with the air soft/BB gun. The 17-year-old juvenile (non-student) was arrested at 1:13 a.m. by OPS and charged with aggravated domestic battery. He was transported to a juvenile detention facility in Galesburg. The juvenile has been trespassed from WIU.

On Sept. 15 at 6:34 p.m. three students in the Higgins Hall lot were judicially referred for drug paraphernalia. Karim McIntosh, 20, of 819 Thompson Hall, received a notice to appear Oct. 22 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 


Fatal Crash in McDonough County

McDonough County, IL-- 74 year-old Edwin Grisham passed away late Saturday night as a result of a crash caused byt improper lane usage.

 

Grisham was traveling northbound on 350 East approximately 1⁄2 a mile north of 950 North in McDonough County. Grishram’s vehicle ran off the east side of the roadway and struck an embankment. Grisham’s vehicle overturned and he was ejected.

 

McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, Colchester Police Department, Blandinsville Police Department, Colchester Fire Protection District, Life Guard Ambulance, Air Evac 144, McDonough County Coroner, and Weaver Automotive and Towing all assited on the situation.

On Sept. 9 at 7:13 p.m. Kameron Shaw, 21, of Thompson Hall 619, and Charles Agbogun, 18, of Olson Hall 822, were issued notices to appear October 15 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for fighting in C-Lot.


Results from Labor Day Roadside Check Revealed

Macomb, IL--Over the Labor Day weekend ISP D14 Troopers conducted a Roadside Safety Check (RSC) in Macomb. During the RSC, Troopers made two DUI arrests, four other alcohol related arrests, one drug arrest for possession of methamphetamine and six seatbelt citations. Overall 14 citations were written along with ten warnings. 

 

Captain Jon Dively would like to remind motorists to be responsible and use a designated driver. Also, slow down and move over for vehicles stopped along the highway, regardless of whether it is an emergency vehicle or a fellow motorist.

 

Dallas City Man Arrested during Traffic Stop

Hancock County, IL--On Saturday, August 7, 2019 at approximately 12:10am a Hancock County Sheriff's Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Illinois Highway 96 just outside of Dallas City after a vehicle was seen passing in a no passing zone. As the Deputy was attempting to stop the vehicle, objects were observed coming out of the passenger side window. 

 

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Daniel Jackson, 44 year old male of Dallas City, Illinois. Deputies searched the area where the objects were seen coming from the vehicle and located a plastic bag containing methamphetamine, cash, and other items. 

Jackson was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine (class 3 felony). Jackson was released from the Hancock County Jail on his own recognizance following a bond hearing. 

 

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

 

2 Arrested in Armed robbery in Macomb

Macomb,IL--A 17-year-old juvenile and 19-year-old Wille Hughes were arrested  last night in connection to an armed robbery last night. 

 

On 09/03/19 at approximately 9:04p.m., Macomb Police were dispatched to 1106 Madelyn Ave. for an armed robbery that had just occurred. Responding officers were able to locate two suspects in the 800 block of Bobby Ave., which matched the description of the suspects. Investigations by the officers lead to the recovery of the victim’s cell phone that was taken during the robbery. The suspects were also found to be in possession of a BB gun and masks.

 

Hughes was charged with Aggravated Robbery. Hughes was lodged at the McDonough County Jail.

The 17-year-old juvenile was charged with Aggravated Robbery. The juvenile was transported and lodged at Mary Davis Detention Facility in Galesburg.
