On Nov. 6 at 1:25 p.m. a student reported the theft of $88 from her wallet in the 10th floor lounge of Washington Hall. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 5 at 9:02 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Corbin Hall. The alarm was activated by a fire extinguisher being activated in a laundry room, causing smoke. No injuries were reported.

Schuyler Co Sheriff Bill Redshaw reports the following action in Schuyler Co for the week of Oct 21-Oct 28 

On 10/21/2019 

 

Robert Merrick of Rushville was driving a 2017 Chevy Colorado and hit a deer on Sugar Grove Rd near Rt 67 

 

Tristan Prather of Rushville was arrested on a McDonough Co Warrant in the amount of $5000.00 with 10% to apply, Prather posted bond and was released

Dimitrius Richardson of Jacksonville was arrested on a Schuyler Co Warrant in the amount of $3000.00 with 10% to apply, Richardson posted bond and was released

Kiley Bailey of Winchester was arrested on a Brown Co Warrant in the amount of $3000.00 with 10% to apply, Bailey posted bond and was released 

 

On 10/25/2019 

Francis Cann of Quincy was cited for Speeding 72mph in a 55mph zone 

Schuyler Co Deputies arrested Sammie Hicks of Beardstown on a Schuyler Co Warrant in the amount of $200.00 cash, Hicks remains lodged in the Schuyler CO Jail

On Oct. 23 at 5:04 Kaitlyn Hardin, 18, of Thompson Hall 1723, was arrested in Thompson Hall on a McDonough County warrant. She was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 5:08 p.m. where she was lodged pending bond. 

On Oct. 25 at 1:15 a.m. Brooke Barlow, 18, of Thompson Hall 1332, was issued a notice to appear Dec. 3 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for possession of drug paraphernalia on Western Avenue.

Brody Stambaugh of Jacksonville was cited for Speeding 89mph in a 55mph zone 

A juvenile of Plymouth was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion when the juvenile struck a deer on Camden Rd by Greenwell Mill Rd 

 

On 10/15/2019 

Fiacre Sassou of Beardstown was cited for Improper Driving on Shoulder, Improper Lane Usage, Disobeying a Stop Sign & Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Sassou was driving a 2002 Ford Pick-up and was traveling northbound on US Highway 67. Sassou stated he could not slow down due to his brakes not working and his accelerator was stuck. The driver travelled through the 4 way intersection without stopping and drove around another vehicle onto the shoulder. He then travels back onto the roadway in front of the other vehicle and begins to lose control and overturns multiple times before coming to a rest on the west side of the roadway.

A juvenile of Browning was cited for Manufacture/Delivery of Cannabis, Aggravated Fleeing & Eluding, Speeding 70mph in a 55mph zone, 2 Counts of DUI, Unlawful Possession of Alcohol by a Minor & Unlawful Use of Weapons 

 

On 10/17/2019 

Vernon Boelenge of Springfield was cited for Speeding 93mph in a 55mph zone 

 

Joseph Schaefer of Mt. Sterling was cited for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle 

 

Justin Chancy of Littleton was driving a 2017 GMC Pick-Up when he struck a deer on US Highway 67 near Il Rt 101 

 

Roger Edwards of Beardstown turned himself into Schuyler Co Sheriff’s Dept on a McDonough Co Warrant in the amount of $5000.00 with 10% to apply. Edwards posted $500.00 bond and was released

Jose Salazar-Labato of Beardstown was cited for Speeding 71mph in a 55mph zone

Gregory Davis Jr of Beardstown was cited for Speeding 74mph in a 55mph zone

Cody Bray was arrested on a McDonough Co Warrant in the amount of $5000.00, Bray was transported to McDonough Co Jail.

On Oct. 16 at 8:04 a.m. a WIU employee reported damage to government property on land owned by WIU near the 800 block of West Adams Street. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 16 at 2:42 p.m. a WIU employee reported the theft of a parking permit, valued at $124, from her vehicle parked in the Horrabin Hall lot. The incident is under investigation.


Correctional Officer Arrested on Custodial Sexual Misconduct Charges

Hancock County, IL-- Hancock County Sherriff Scott Bentzinger announced the arrest of 35-Year-old Cole Hamelton of Carthage, IL on charges of Custodial Sexual Misconduct.

 

At the request of the Sherriff, Illinois State Police conducted an investigation into allegations of Custodial Sexual Misconduct between Hamelton, a correctional officer at Hancock County jail,  and a female inmate.

 

Hamelton was arrested on Oct. 11th and per his bail hearing, will be held on $100,000 bail.

 

 

Hamelton is set to go to court Oct. 24th and is currently being held in McDonough County Jail. 

 

All subjects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

On Oct. 11 at 8:58 p.m. Elijah Davis, 18, of 1404 Thompson Hall, was arrested in Thompson on a McDonough County warrant for fleeing and eluding police. He also received a Macomb city ordinance violation for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 9:02 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 12 at 4:44 a.m. Cameron Taylor, 23, of 716 W. Chandler St., was arrested in Olson Hall for domestic battery. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 4:49 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.


Macomb Man Arrested for Underage DUI and Hitting

Macomb— The Macomb Police arrested a man for hitting three parked cars in town and for underaged drinking.

 

 Jakob Deweese, 20, of Macomb was arrested by police on Piper Street Saturday night when the first car he struck ended up in a front yard of a home. Deweese then hit another parked car before he backing into another car. Police said people witnessed Deweese driving around in a Chevy Silverado.

On Oct. 7 at 3:55 p.m. a University employee reported the theft of a metal lawn chair, valued at $60, from the Alumni House between Oct. 5-7. The incident is under investigation.
 
On Oct. 7 at 7:10 p.m. Marissa Lizzio, 21, of 31 Grote Hall, was issued a notice to appear Nov. 12 for a Macomb city ordinance violation of possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis near the University Union.
 
On Oct. 7 at 4:22 p.m. a student in Thompson Hall reported the theft of a phone charger wall plug and a video game wall plug, no value given. The incident is under investigation.
 
On Oct. 8 at 1:12 a.m. Gavin Meyer, 19, of 1211 Lincoln Hall; Robert Murdock, 18, of 1518 Thompson Hall; Donald Graves, 18, of 1518 Thompson Hall; and Anthony Williams, 18, of 1516 Thompson Hall were issued notices to appear Nov. 19 for possession of drug paraphernalia on Murray Street.
 
On Oct. 8 at 3:15 p.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report criminal damage to his electric bicycle, no value given. The incident is under investigation.
 
On Oct. 8 at 7:34 p.m. a student in the Corbin/Olson Dining Center reported the theft of $40 from her backpack. The incident is under investigation.
