Hancock County Drug Arrests 7/21/18

NEWS RELEASE

July 21, 2018

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger and Carthage Police Chief Gary Waddell reports the arrest of two individuals in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 21, 2018.

At about 4:00 am the Hancock County Multi-Agency Response Team assisted the Carthage Police Department in the execution of a search warrant at Jeffrey Schofield's residence at 303 Hansford in Carthage and arrested two people. Jeffery Schofield, age 48, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Stolen Property.

Lindsay Cleesen, age 31, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.

Schofield and Cleesen were lodged in the jail awaiting a bond hearing.

All subjects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 18, 2018

On July 15, 2018 at about 12:20pm, Hancock County Sheriff's Office, responded to the report of a domestic violence in the 300 block of North Center Street in Augusta. The male suspect had fled the scene prior to arrival. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released. Deputies located and arrested Randy L. Sadler, 31 years old from Carthage, Illinois at a residence in rural Dallas City at about 5:20pm on July 15, 2018. Sadler was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery and Home Invasion and was lodged in Hancock County Jail. On July 17, 2018, Sadler's bond was set at $50,000.00.

Sadler is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 18, 2018

On July 17, 2018 at about 11:20pm, Hancock County Sheriff's Office working in conjunction with Hancock County Multi-Agency Response Team (MRT), conducted a traffic stop of a 2012 Chrysler van on U.S. Hwy 136 west of New Warsaw Road, in Hamilton Illinois, Hancock County. As a result of the stop the driver of the van was arrested for driving while license suspended. Hancock County K9 “Zaire” detected the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis over 700 grams, THC related products over 100 grams, and prescription medication, all packaged for sale and delivery. The passenger in the vehicle, Jason A. Sprague, 36 years old from Hamilton, Illinois, was arrested and charged with possession of the illegal drugs.

A search of Sprague's residence was conducted following the traffic stop, and more illegal drugs, money and a firearm were all seized as evidence.

Sprague was lodged in Hancock County Jail awaiting arraignment on the charges. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hancock County MRT consists of Law Enforcement Officers from Hamilton Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff's Office, Hancock County Sheriff's Reserve, and Warsaw Police.

William Wayland of Bushnell was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. William was driving a 2004 Honda and was travelling North of US 67 heading South. A Vehicle driven by Angela Thurman of Arenzville was driving a 2015 Chrysler Van. Thurman was stopped on RT 67 attempting to turn onto Dean Road. William rear ended Thurman as he did not see him stopped.

Ramon Colon of Beardstown was cited for Battery. Colon was lodged in the Schuyler County on charges from Cass County. Colon struck another inmate in his cell block.

Jair Lopez Paz of Beardstown was cited for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. Lopez Paz is lodged in the Schuyler County Jail with a 150,000.00 bond

Timothy A Hacker, age 36, of Beardstown, IL was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving While License Suspended, and Operating Uninsured. Vehicle. Hacker was remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

Dessie P Putnam, age 37, of Bowen, IL was arrested on an Adams County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Seat belt Violation. Putnam was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date.

Dillon M Morton, age 22, of Hamilton, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear Petition to Revoke on original charges of Possession of Methamphetamine. Morton was released to Illinois Department of Corrections.

Kori J Nanace, age 36, of Nauvoo, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Petition to Revoke or Modify Sentence on original charges of Aggravated Domestic Battery. Nance remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

Anthony T Beasley, age 43, of Niota, IL was arrested and charged with Forgery. Beasley was also arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Driving While License Suspended. Beasley was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date.

Eric D Johnson, age 48, of Basco, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Possession of Methamphetamine. Johnson was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date.

Kimberly A Spray, age 48, of Sutter, IL was arrested on an Adams County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear on original charges of Operating Uninsured Vehicle and Failure to Notify. Spray was released to Adams County Authorities.

Jacob E Hester, age 34, of Carthage, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine. Hester remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

Jennifer F Sherwood, age 36, of Carthage, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Petition to Revoke or Modify Sentence on original charges of Burglary. Sherwood was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date.

Justin M Stewart, age 33, of Keokuk, IA was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Valid Driver's License. Stewart was also arrested on a Iowa Department of Corrections Warrant charging him with Escape. Stewart was released to Des Moines County IA Authorities.

Hancock County Stabbing

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the report of a stabbing that took place near Pontoosuc, Illinois on 1530 East County Road about one quarter mile south of Highway 9 and 96 at about 11pm on July 9, 2018.

 

Two adult males, ages 34 and 43, both occupants of the same vehicle, got into an argument. Both males were injured by knife. Two other occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

 

The 43-year old male was stabbed in the chest and was taken to Ft. Madison by private vehicle where they met the Lee County Ambulance and Ft. Madison Police. The Lee County Ambulance then transported the male to Ft. Madison Community Hospital. The 34-year old male received treatment at Carthage Memorial Hospital on July 10, 2018.

 

The incident remains under investigation.

7/5/2018 Kaylen Davidson of Rushville was driving a 1999 Ford Mustang North on Rt 67, lost control and went off the roadway and hit a fence. No injuries were reported and no damage to the vehicle.

7/8/2018 Neal Stambaugh was driving a 2013 Ford and was travelling north on RT 67 approx 2 miles south of Sugar Creek Rd when he struck a deer.

On Nov. 16 the Office of Public Safety and the Macomb Police Department arrested three individuals. At 6:16 a.m. Abel Abrego, 21, of 627 W. Adams St., was arrested for possession of stolen property. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 7:15 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond. At 6:44 a.m. Jason Rodriguez, 19, and Andrew Galiano, 19, both of 904 Bayliss Hall, were arrested in Bayliss Hall for theft over $500, possession of cannabis, manufacture and delivery of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were transported to the McDonough County Jail at 7:23 a.m. were they were lodged pending bond. Additional information can be obtained from the Macomb Police Department.

On Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Tanner Hall. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

On Nov. 13 at 11:30 a.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report the theft of her bicycle, no value given, from the Tanner Hall bicycle rack. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 13 at 7:52 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Olson Hall. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

On Nov. 10 at 1:36 p.m. Jada Beatty, 18, of 724 Tanner Hall, was arrested in Mowbray Hall for theft under $500 and disorderly conduct. She was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 1:47 p.m. where she was lodged pending bond.

On Nov. 10 at 8:34 p.m. non student Donshay Posey, 20, of Oak Park, was arrested in Q-Lot on a McDonough County warrant for failure to appear. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 8:51 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond. Non student Shauna Harris, 19, of Oak Park, was issued a notice to appear Dec. 12 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for possession of cannabis.

On Nov. 11 at 1:37 p.m. one student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for behavior.

On Nov. 11 at 8:49 p.m. non student Makayla McGee, 20, of Galesburg, was arrested in the 300 block of West University Drive for driving while license suspended. She was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 9:01 p.m. where she was lodged pending bond.

On Nov. 12 at 10:39 p.m. a University employee reported the theft of approximately $23 worth of food from the Tanner C-Store. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 12 at 10:43 p.m. one student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and one student was judicially referred for possession of cannabis.

On Nov. 8 at 1:02 a.m. Austin Gladd, 20, of Lacon, IL, was arrested in Tanner Hall for unlawful use of weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 1:13 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Nov. 9 at 7:06 p.m. an employee reported criminal damage to government property on the fourth and fifth floors of Corbin Hall. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 6 at 6:15 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Thompson Hall. No smoke or fire was found and no injuries were reported.

On Nov. 6 at 7:03 p.m. Jimmy Lloyd, 18, of 720 Bayliss Hall, was arrested in Q-Lot for driving while license suspended. He was lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 7:13 p.m. pending bond. During the same incident, four people were judicially referred for cannabis.

On Nov. 7 at 12:14 p.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report the theft of a WIU identification card. The card was then used for $38.56 in fraudulent charges. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 7 at 2:01 p.m. a student reported she was sexually assaulted Sept. 17 in a residence hall by someone known to her. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 7 at 2:35 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the Bayliss/Henninger dining area. The alarm was activated by a grease fire on a grill and no injuries were reported.

On Nov. 4 at 9:16 p.m. one student in Grote Hall was judicially referred for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

On Nov. 5 at 2:34 p.m. a University employee reported the theft of a television from the Bayliss Hall fourth floor lounge. The theft is under investigation.

On Nov. 5 at 2:33 a.m. two students were judicially referred for possession of cannabis in the Thompson Hall parking lot. Martin Beemsterboer, 19, of 1212 Thompson Hall, and non student Jack Serieko, 20, of Chicago, were each assigned a notice to appear Dec. 12 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

On Nov. 1 at 8:37 p.m. a student in Tanner Hall reported the theft of a purse, valued at $90, perfume, valued at $15 and $20 in cash from her residence hall room. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 2 at 3:01 p.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report her identification card was lost or stolen. The incident is under investigation.

On Nov. 3 at 12:24 a.m. a student in Thompson Hall reported the theft of her car key/key fob, valued at $75, from her residence hall room.

On Oct. 30 at 3:05 p.m. Paris White, 21, of 900 Linden Lane, was arrested near LaMoine Village on an active McDonough County warrant. She was transported to McDonough County Jail at 3:11 p.m. where she was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 30 at 5:45 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Tanner Hall. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

On Oct. 31 at 10:56 a.m. nonstudent Jahi Allen, 18, of Chicago, was arrested at Mowbray Hall for domestic battery, unlawful restraint, and criminal damage to property from incidents that took place in Tanner and Bayliss halls on Sept. 10 and Oct. 30. He was transported to McDonough County Jail at 11 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 31 at 2:13 p.m. a student reported criminal damage, estimated at $120, to his motorcycle parked near Knoblauch Hall between 12-2 p.m. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 31 at 5:46 p.m. the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety received a report from two students that they were each sexually assaulted by a male known to them. The assaults occurred Oct. 29 and Oct. 15, as well as on previous dates stemming back to last year. The incidents took place in a residence hall room. The University is investigating the incident.

On Oct. 31 at 9:05 p.m. a student reported the theft of his wallet, containing ID cards, a debit card, a credit card and $20, from the Thompson Hall dining center between 5-6 p.m. Fraudulent charges were made to both cards in the amounts of $65 and $33. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 31 at 10:32 p.m. one student in Olson Hall was judicially referred for cannabis.

On Nov. 1 at 12:04 a.m. one student in Corbin Hall was judicially referred for suspicion of cannabis and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

On Oct. 26 at 12:10 p.m. Mekyell Brown-Champion, 18, 820 Tanner Hall, was arrested in Tanner Hall for a domestic battery incident that took place Oct. 25. He was transported to McDonough County Jail at 12:23 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 26 at 8:45 p.m. one student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for cannabis, and another student was judicially referred for possession of alcohol.

On Oct. 26 at 11:26 p.m. a student reported the theft of $50 ($20, $5 and $25) taken from her wallet in Thompson Hall over a period of one month, beginning Sept. 17. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. De Andre Miller, 18, of 805 Tanner Hall, was arrested in the 300 block of University Drive for reckless driving following an accident, which caused an estimated $700 in property damage along University Drive. Miller was ticketed for reckless driving and assigned a Nov. 8 court date. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 6:05 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 7 at 4:51 a.m. a 14-year-old juvenile in Tanner Hall was issued a citation for curfew and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. The juvenile was released to his parents.

On Oct. 7 at 11:31 a.m. an individual reported at OPS that sometime between 11:20-11:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, she was struck in the back by a BB while waiting at the Murray Street bus stop. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 8 at 3:07 p.m. non student Corrion Martin, 20, of Chicago, was arrested near Charles and Orchard streets for domestic battery and criminal damage after an alleged incident in Tanner Hall. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 3:15 P.M. where he as lodged pending bond.

On Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m. a student reported that she was sexually harassed by a few males on campus while walking on the north quad near the football field at 11 p.m. Sept. 27. The student stated that a group of males began yelling sexually explicit statements, and then the men approached the subject, and one of the males grabbed her purse and fled. After the student used pepper spray on the other individuals, the purse was retuned and they fled the scene. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 28 at 4:30 p.m. a student reported that she was sexually assaulted by a male known to her. The assault occurred in the evening hours of Sept. 25 in a residence hall. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 28 at 9:07 p.m. a student in Henninger Hall was judicially referred for cannabis on West University Drive.

On Sept. 29 at 12:42 a.m. Orlando Mattox, 18, and Kyler Hughes, 19, both of 909 Bayliss Hall, were each issued a notice to appear Oct. 31 for a Macomb City ordinance violation for possession of cannabis in Bayliss Hall.

He was lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 11:42 a.m. pending bond. Telonda Isom, 18, of 1008 Bayliss Hall, was arrested in Bayliss for obstruction of justice. She was lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 9:43 a.m. pending bond.

On Sept. 3 at 6:10 a.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.

On Sept. 3 at 10:44 p.m. a student in Henninger Hall was judicially referred for cannabis possession.

On Sept. 4 at 12:48 a.m. Jordan Taylor, 18, of 824 Tanner Hall and non-student Brian Sutton, 19, of Hanover Park, IL, were issued notices to appear Oct. 10 for Macomb City ordinance violations for possession of cannabis (less than 10 grams) ?in Tanner.

On Sept. 4 at 2:30 p.m. an employee of the Harry Mussatto Golf Course reported the theft of $625 in cash and checks from the course's pro shop. The incident is under investigation.

On Aug. 31 at 10:54 a.m. an employee reported the theft of a television from the 11th floor lounge in Bayliss Hall. The incident is under investigation.

On Aug. 28 at 3:47 p.m., the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety received a report that a student was sexually assaulted by a male known to her. The assault occurred in the evening hours of Aug. 25 in a residence hall. The University is investigating the incident.

On Aug. 28 at 8:32 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the International House on Westbrook Circle. The alarm was activated by a cooking mishap and no injuries were reported.

On Aug. 20 at 1:34 a.m. two non-student juveniles were arrested in Q-Lot for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and violating curfew. Both were released to family members.

On Aug. 20 at 3:24 a.m. Niko Petrone, 20, of 414 Thompson Hall, was arrested on Murray Street for obstruction of identification and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was lodged in the McDonough County Jail at 3:29 a.m. pending bond.

On Aug. 20 at 3:34 p.m. a student reported the theft of a wallet, containing $60 and various identification and credit cards, from the Donald Spencer Recreation Center.
