Obituaries
Bobby L. Mathena age 81 of Colchester, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.  He was born June 13, 1935, in Williamstown, Missouri, to Russell and Nancy Anna Davies Mathena.   Bobby was united in marriage on June 16, 1965, in Peoria, Illinois to Juanita A. Fisher.  She preceded him in death on January 4, 2017.
 
Surviving to mourn his passing  Sons; Gerald and Cindy Brown, Carthage, Illinois, Roger and Paula Brown, Macomb, Illinois, Rodney Brown, Kanas City, Missouri, Kevin Brown, Tennessee, Illinois, 1 Daughter Kimberly and George Lewis, Bloomington, Illinois, 14 Grandchildren: Jamison, Erin, Austin, Paxton, Wyatt, Brandi, Christopher, David, Kimberly, Joshua, Anna, Amanda Emily, Brett, 6 Great Grandchildren: Reece, Gavin, Jersey, Jesslynn, Jace, Charlotte,  2 Brothers: Russell and Mary Mathena, Joliet, Illinois,  Bill Mathena, Macomb, Illinois, 4 Nephews: Gary, Frank, Charles, Dennis, 3 Nieces: Brenda, Nancy, and Luana.
 
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Juanita, 1 brother: Basil, 1 sister: Betty Mathena Swanson, 1 Sister-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, and 2 nieces.
 
Bobby served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He attended Grade School in Missouri and was a Graduate of Macomb High School.  He worked at McGraw Edison in Macomb before joining the carpenters Local 644 in Pekin, Illinois where he retired after 30 years.  Bobby was a Member and served as Past Patron of OES #123, Past Master of AF & AM #0017.  He was a member of the Macomb VFW Post 1921, and Macomb American Legion Post 6.
 
Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pitch and mushrooming. He loved to fish, having a cabin on the river for many years.  Of all the different things that Bobby did in his life, the greatest treasure was his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
Juanita A. Mathena age 92 of Colchester, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, Illinois.  She was born May 27, 1924 in Bluff City, Illinois, to Loren and Evanna Parks Fisher.  Juanita was united in marriage to Wayne K. Brown, April 1945, she was later united in marriage to Bobby L Mathena on June 16, 1965, in Peoria, Illinois.
 
Surviving to mourn her passing are, Sons; Gerald and Cindy Brown, Carthage, Illinois, Roger and Paula Brown, Macomb, Illinois, Rodney Brown, Kanas City, Missouri, Kevin Brown, Tennessee, Illinois, 1 Daughter Kimberly and George Lewis, Bloomington, Illinois, 14 Grandchildren: Jamison, Erin, Austin, Paxton, Wyatt, Brandi, Christopher, David, Kimberly, Joshua, Anna, Amanda Emily, Brett, 6 Great Grandchildren: Reece, Gavin, Jersey, Jesslynn, Jace, Charlotte, 2 Half Sisters, Romona Teel, Industry, Darlene Jarnot, Macomb, 1 Half Brother: Gary Fisher, Macomb.
 
Juanita had been employed at Western Illinois University in Building services.  She was a member of the Colchester Eastern Star, Colchester United Methodist Church, Women’s Bowling Association of which she bowled all over the United States.  Upon the death of her mother, she was raised by her Grandparents, Worley and Hattie Parks. In 1937 she moved with her grandparents to Colchester, where she graduated from Colchester High School in 1943.
 
She loved to fish, having a cabin on the river for many years.  When she was not fishing she loved her country music, always having the radio on.  She attended many Country music Concerts all over the country and taking her kids with her.  After the kids grew up, they started taking her to many concerts in St. Louis or Chicago.  
 
Juanita also loved her Chicago Cubs, which she was proud to let you know she was a Cub Fan.  Of all the different things that Juanita did in her life, the greatest treasure was her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
Graveside service will be Friday, June 16, 2017, at Mt Auburn Cemetery in Colchester, with Rev. Mark Smith. Military rites will be preformed by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion.  In Lieu of flowers the family would like a memorial be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice.  Jones Mortuary in Colchester is handling arrangements.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com.
