ABC RadioNirvana bassist Krist Noveselic currently plays in a band called Giants in the Trees, and the group is taking a few pointers from his old group's most famous album, Nevermind.
"Nevermind is a very song-orientated record," Novoselic tells Kerrang!. "That's the same with Giants in the Trees, the songs switch gears. Nevermind did that, too."
He adds, "The songs had very individual personalities, but there was also a cohesive whole. That's what we wanted to do with this [Giants in the Trees] album."
Novoselic still listens to Nevermind, which turned 25 last year.
"It's pretty loaded for me, in a lot of ways," he says of the album. "I think it sounds really good. It's nice to remember Kurt [Cobain], but a lot of things pop up when I hear it."
Novoselic will reunite with his Nirvana band mate Dave Grohl when Giants in the Trees play Foo Fighters' Cal Jam festival in October. The band also is playing the Sasquatch! festival later this month.
