Illinois State Police (ISP) are Investigating a recent accident between a truck and a train in Montgomery County.
ISP say that 43-year old Matt Hughes from Hillsboro, IL was driving his pickup truck eastbound on Beelers Trail approaching a railroad grade crossing at about 10:45 AM yesterday. Hughes didn’t slow down; as he tried to make it pass the railroad tracks he drove right in front of a train and was hit. The train stuck the passenger side of Hughes truck causing him to be seriously injured. He was transported to a Springfield hospital where he is now recovering from his injuries. Officers with the ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash, no further information has been released at the time.
