The Red Cross is reminding everyone that with Daylight Savings Time kicking off this weekend you should also take the opportunity to check the batteries in your smoke alarm. Before you head to bed on Sunday night make sure to set your clock ahead by one hour for Daylight Savings TIme but while you are at it, check the batteries on your smoke detector. The Red Cross encourages everyone to replace your smoke alarm batteries, test the alarm to make sure it is working properly and considering testing your escape plan for a fire or similar emergency in your home. Remember that batteries in smoke detectors can age and that testing or changing the batteries on a twice a year basis is a good way to make sure your smoke alarm is always in working order.
