The Western Illinois Football program has released its 2018 schedule. Unlike 2017's lopsided seven road games to four home games, Western will go back to six on the road and five at Hanson Field this season.
The Leathernecks open the season Thursday, August 30 at Montana State. That will be the first of three non-conference games Western gets. Saturday, September 8 WIU plays at Illinois, followed by a September 15 home matchup with Montana.
The Missouri Valley Football Conference Schedule begins with WIU at home against Youngstown State Saturday September 29, following a bye week.
The October slate sends Western to Illinois State (October 6), home against North Dakota State (October 13), at Missouri State (October 20) and back home vs Northern Iowa (October 27).
Western starts off November at Southern Illinois (November 3), followed by the furthest conference road trip of the season to South Dakota (November 10). The Leathernecks conclude regular season play at home against Indiana State (November 17).
All Leatherneck football games will air on Classic 103 (102.7 FM WJEQ).
