Western Illinois Womens Basketball senior point guard Emily Clemens has been named Summit League Female Athlete of the Month, picking up the award for the second time in her career. Clemens averaged 19.1 points, 8.2 assists and 3.6 steals per game in December, leading the Leathernecks to a 5-2 mark in that stretch.
Clemens, the 2016-17 Summit League Player of the Year, put up 26 points, four assists and five steals in a win at no. 17 Stanford. That win was the first victory over a nationally ranked opponent in program history.
For the season, Clemens is averaging 16.4 points, 8 assists and 3.5 assists per game. The Leathernecks own a 12-5 record, and are off to a 2-1 start in Summit League play.
