December 30 marked the conclusion of the 72nd Annual Macomb Western Holiday Tournament. The three day boy's high school basketball tournament inside Western Hall brought sixteen teams from West Central Illinois onto the campus of Western Illinois University for this event. Teams voyaged from as far as two hours to come to Macomb for the tournament inside Western Hall.
Macomb Mayor Mike Inman came on the pre-game coverage of the Macomb-Brown County broadcast on December 30 to give his take on the tournament. Mayor Inman highlighted the economic impact of this event, which benefits local businesses, generates hotel/motel tax and provides high school students with a chance to consider Western Illinois University as a four-year college option.
