The Macomb high school softball team lost to Washington 10-0 in a six inning Regional Semifinal game Thursday afternoon in Bartonville. The seventh seeded Lady Bombers came into the game following a 13-0 win over tenth seeded Peoria Central on Wednesday afternoon. Macomb finishes the season 14-19.
Washington has been a top five team in the 3A rankings all season long, and displayed why during this game. A Macomb error and an ensuing RBI double brought in two runs for Washington. MHS pitcher Jordyn Hare kept the scoreboard clean the next two innings, but faced more trouble in the fourth. Back to back solo home runs expanded the Washington lead to 2-0. A three-run home run in the fifth then made the score 7-0 Washington. Three more runs crossed for Washington in the bottom of the sixth, making the score 10-0 and ending the game in mercy rule fashion.
Macomb only had two hits on the afternoon, while committing five errors. Washington moves on to face Limestone today in the Regional Finals in Bartonville.
